Were David & Jonathan Really Gay Lovers?

I'm writing this after I received this note from another writer in another online magazine where I contribute my write-ups. My article that got the fellow to go out of his way to send me a note is Could your husband be gay? Signs to look for.... It's one of my "best-sellers," of which I can only guess why it continues to do so---perhaps it's as close as you can get to coming up with the truthful answers to the question.

Below is the kind fellow's note:
It's truly a shame that we cannot conceive of close, same sex friendships such as the one between David and Jonathan without characterizing them as gay.

The Bible clearly states that their "souls" were knit together, not their bodies in complete violation and disregard for God's law.

Hope this helped.

I just responded by saying something like "thank you."

Were David and Jonathan really gay lovers? I mean I know the answer to that based on what I read from Bible --- those descriptions can only be appreciated and understood by someone who has been in a context/a situation of having been in a gay relationship. Non-gay people (or straights) can't really be expected to understand the context as they simply don't have the experience. Hence, this may probably be contributing to more confusion, hate and prejudice over people who have had different experiences than what straight people have had. It's just like when men would usually define (or delimit) women's varied roles according to their terms, when in fact they don't know "how it is to be a woman" as they're not one in the first place.

Share me your thoughts on this...pls. Thank you!
