Moving On: Why Do Some Well Meaning People Have Such Notions on Those Who Are in Business
I've been having brief discussions with some people I've met who behave toward me as if I'm a leper or that I'm just taking them for a ride. This situation is particularly true especially when they realize I'm working hard and focused in building my business (so my goals would be accomplished now or sooner), and that I'd like them to consider exploring this opportunity, specifically with Market America (www.shop.com/jeromebaladad) to become entrepreneurs themselves (or share the idea to their followers). Most of these people are religious or those who belong to some types of organizations that they think and feel are much bigger than themselves. Along the way, they express, although not necessarily in the most verbal way, how much they despise everything about being in business, as if it's the business person's fault that supply and demand of materials we love and look for these days behave most strangely (hello? such situations have been around for centuries --- just check historical records of societies established long time ago all over the world) and we can't have them right away (as in now!). It is as if we're being taking advantaged of by business people (as if they don't realize it's how the worldwide economic-social structure has been designed or has evolved unintentionally all these many years --- the systems that make up this structure feed on each other, by the way). Of course, we can't run away from the laws of economics, as they define and explain why everything here in our earthly life is limited and finite (even the very air we breathe in ---- if you're not convinced, wait till you die and we'll see if you'll even have some demand for it).
Some of them just completely ignore my invites to connect or to have them attending an overview meeting for this business opportunity I have with my Market America franchise business. Some are outright dismissive, and quietly mortified that I've invited them to take a look at this opportunity. However, I encountered at least 1 who has been open-minded about such business opportunities as I would later discover that he has a psychotherapy practice, which he has to pursue with some other practitioners so it would be economic for them to offer their services to their targeted market here in New York City.
Most of those I've approached to-date would rather ask for contributions or seek help for their projects from others whom they believe should be sharing their blessings. They refuse to see that they have to help most every one in their own group to become self reliant and be able to figure out effective means to meet their needs while still alive (which is the same as that adage about 'teach them to fish rather than give them fish to eat, so they will have something to eat the rest of their lives). They refuse to see that this calls for most people to learn very well in becoming entrepreneurs, rather than being employees. To be able to become experienced and successful entrepreneurs, these people have to do a lot more and be more focused given all these distractions all of us have these days. I suspect that the main reason why these prospects behave that way is mainly because they've not been practicing what they've been preaching in their inner / personal lives. One example of this has been Karl Marx, who's Das Capital influenced so many others. But he himself didn't practice what he preached --- Friedrich Engels, his capitalist partner, had to provide him financial support so Marx could very well do his work.
I think it's just a matter of time when these uninformed people will have to take a serious look at all these business opportunities around them. One way or another, in today's world, you have to figure out ways and means to engage in business activities so your needs would be met consistently. You have to possess the required skills and abilities to play strategically with these confounding issues we face while we still live.
Come to think of it, there's really no conflict between being in an organization that's not profit oriented and one that is decidedly profit-oriented; it's been always a question of values at the end of day. It's knowing what you want and working on it that matters each day you see you're still alive. It's the role of the individual for such awesome situations in life to be realized. Hopefully, along the way of realization, i.e., becoming more aware and really taking those actions necessary despite the ups and downs of life, some will learn to work very well with others and have fun in what's happening now.
