A Flock of Geese at Prospect Park

Image
One weekday, after a difficult day in one of my parttime jobs, I thought I could spend a few hours killing time for my next appointment. Prospect Park, being less than a block away from my worksite, provided the respite from all my mind's concerns. Thank God, I had my camera with me, and with my hands being clammy, I took shots of those pretty little animals in the park. These birds were just enjoying swimming by themselves, forming a meditative stance in one of those lakes in the park; a concrete short pathway leads to this site from which I took this shot. Update: Almost all of these killed must have been killed during recent extermination done for safety of airplanes and their passengers in New York City's airports... please read relevant New York Times report here

A Waterfalls Site in Prospect Park (close up view)

Image
This waterfalls site is actually at least 50 feet away from me, as the whole site is blockaded by metal (or was it, wooden?) fence. It's deceivingly sited that it's almost out of the usual pathway. Waterfalls, in a busy city like New York, easily provide a welcome relief, almost like a sacred site to some, from my usual daily concerns, even for a few minutes! I just noticed it becomes fiercer in appearance the more I get a closer shot at it. Compare it with the 1st photo in this series.

A very inviting site, though it actually doesn't look as pretty as this picture when I took a shot at it. Waterfalls are hidden gems in any park, particularly in parks that have enough space to accommodate freely moving bodies of water in enclosed & self contained, managed boundaries. Can you imagine seeing waterfalls way out there in the wilds?

Birdy Taking a Bath # 1

Image
This series of 5 photos are those I decided to keep from a number of shots I furtively took on a bird that decided to take a bath while I was in Prospect Park recently. The site is actually a bathing place for dogs, but there were no dogs that time (they were busy walking in other parts of the park). I was grateful of the fact that the bird allowed me to take its photos, while enjoying one of life's really gratifying pleasures (i.e. bathing!).

I tried my best not to spoil the bath of this bird! I took the shots, at least 7 feet away from the bird.

Do you think the bird noticed me as I was taking shots at it while taking its bath?

This bird definitely knows what it wants! Go, bird, go!

The bird, now almost done, with bathing!
